Thanks,The Aazhimala Siva Temple in Kazhivoor has been attracting crowds of devout Shiva worshipers as well as tourists for decades. 'Aazhi' translates to sea and 'Mala' means mountain - and the temple is so named because it sits on the golden shores of the Arabian Sea on a slightly elevated platform. Aazhimala Siva Temple, as the name suggests, is dedicated to the great Lord Shiva.
Since Shiva devotees consider Tuesday as an auspicious day, every group of Lord's followers come to seek his blessings in this temple. A temple festival is held every year between January and February where thousands of devotees gather to offer 'Naranga Vilakku' which is basically an oil lamp lit with lemon. Seeing hundreds of oil lamps lit up one after the other by the sea will make you think that the bright stars of the night have fallen to the ground!
Since the Aazhimala Siva temple is located on a high ground, the temple offers a panoramic and spectacular view of the waves of the Arabian Sea and the endless golden end of the remarkable Aazhimala river. know.
