Thiruvananthapuram Shankumugham Beach is a beach in the
Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala in southern India. The beach is located
on the western side of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and is close to
Trivandrum International Airport. A large expanse of white sand and a calm
atmosphere, away from the crowd of the city, offers everything to relax and
spend a good evening. - City of Saint Anantha has food kiosks and attractions
air. parking. Good food can be enjoyed at the Old Coffee House, across the
river, which is also a great place to enjoy the sunset. The river is not well
maintained, garbage is everywhere. Shannghumugham river is considered as
"Arattukadavu" of Sri Ananthapadmanabhan- the presiding deity of the
village. Thousands of Hindus perform "Bali Tharpanam" in a special
ceremony. Shankhumugham is the favorite place of Ganesh Nimarjan during
Vinayaka Chathurthi.
On the day of Arattu in Thiruvananthapuram, images of Lord
Padmanabhaswamy, Lord Narasimha and Lord Krishna are taken in procession to the
Laccadive sea and the Shannghumugham river. These will be led by His Highness
the present Maharaja of Travancore with the royal sword, which will be led by
family members, guards, temple officials, police and constables. After the
ceremonial bath at Shannghumugham, the image is raised in a procession that
marks the end of the ceremony.

Kunhiraman is an interesting one. This huge statue is over 35 meters tall. The
'Jawaharlal Nehru Park of Children's Traffic Signs' is here, which helps
children to understand traffic rules while playing in the park. The park also
offers a playground for younger children.
The Indian Air Force's Southern Air Command area and part of
the airport are located near Shankumugham Beach.
Veli Tourist Village is near the beach. Sailing facilities
are provided at the resort. Boats, restaurants and beautiful gardens are
